Hello, and thank you for your concern regarding Progress Hardware. We’d also like to thank all of you that have donated to our GoFundMe page. Unfortunately, Due to structural and logistical aspects of rebuilding, it seems it’s going to be longer than anticipated. The whole process of filing insurance claims, approval, permits, and all the aspects of rebuilding after a disaster are quite tedious.
Currently, Joe and the team are seeking a liquidating company to clear out all the fixtures (shelving), merchandise, and debris from the store. At the same time, permits have been submitted to start the rebuilding process. Reconstruction cannot begin until all of the store is completely cleared out. The back portion of the store was heavily damaged and there is a lot of work ahead. As you can imagine Progress Hardware has been around since 1948 and building codes were so much different back then.
We are looking forward to reopening in the near future. We miss all of our neighborhood community near and far and can’t wait to be able to help you again.

On 8/7/23, a devastating fire broke out in the Inner Sunset which spread to my business, Progress Hardware, located at 724 Irving St. The fire quickly engulfed the premises, causing extensive damage to the property, equipment, inventory, and infrastructure. While the flames have been extinguished, the aftermath of this catastrophic event has left my business in ruins. Hello, my name is Randy Blair, owner of Progress Hardware. Can you please help my father, Joe Blair and I rebuild Progress Hardware. A family operated hardware store and a pillar in the Inner Sunset for 75 years. With a history in San Francisco longer than the SF Giants.
